International Visiting Scholarship Grants program was developed by the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Foundation. IVS Grant was supported by the generous donations made by the life members of the Millennium Society of the AAOHNSF. Every year IVS Grants are offered by AAOHNSF to developing countries. IVS is open to all who meet eligibility requirements. Following two special awards for year 2018 is available to eligible candidates from India.
1. American Otolarngologists of Indian Heritage (AOIH) International Visiting scholarship Grant: is availale to eligible Otolartngologist - Head & Neck Surgeon who is an Indian citizen residing in India. This IVS is supported by the donations made by the life members of AOIH Inc. and AAOIH to the Millennium Society of AAOHNSF.
2. Dr. Dinesh and Pravina Mehta International Visiting Scholarship Grant: is available to eligible Otolaryngologist - Head & Neck surgeon who is an Indian citizen residing in India. This IVS is supported by generous donation made by Dr. Dinesh and Pravina Mehta to the Millennium Society of AAOHNSF.
Eligible candidates must be below the age of 40 years. They are generally young Otolaryngologist from India who completed post graduate training in Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery in India and is presently employed as a junior faculty member in a University based Otolaryngology training program in India. Eligible applicants (Two from India) from various Post Graduate Training Centers and Universities in India are accepted by AAOHNSF each year. Eligible applicants are then reviewed by the selection committee of AAOHNSF for IVS Grants. Selected candidates are then officially invited by AAOHNSF to attend the scientific sessions and Instructional courses conducted during the yearly Annual meeting of AAOHNSF. At the completion of their attendance to the Annual meeting, each candidate is awarded the CME certificate and a check of $2000. This Grant includes a weiver for the registration fee for attending the annual AAOHNSF meeting and also one year of trial membership of AAOHNSF. Selected candidates are also scheduled in advance by AAOHNSF to complete their Observership Training for fifteen days at the designated teaching institutions in USA before they return back to their respective institutions in India. The Amount of Grant money they receive do not cover their entire expense of touring and visiting United States.
IVS applicant wishing to apply for IVS Grant for year 2018 is requested to submit the manadatory application form issued by AAOHNSF before the application deadline of May 4, 2018. Application forms can be obtained through AAOHNSF website. Candidates are advised to submit their application early by Decembe 2017 as the processing of the application and securing the VISA to USA to attend meeting will consume considerable time even though we are now in electronic era. American Otolarngologists of Indian Hertage (AOIH) Annual dinner meeting is usually scheduled on Monday during the period of annual meeting of AAOHNSF. Next AAOHNSF annual meeting is scheduled in Atlanta, GA, USA from October 7 to 10, 2018. Our AOIH meeting venue is usually in one of the convention center Hotel. International Visiting Scholars from India are cordially invited to attend our AOIH annual dinner meeting on October 8, 2018. They are also welcomed to participate in the scientific discussions and presentations at our annual meeting and are invited to join us in the festivities.
